George Hundy
1857-1945

Chapter 13 - George Hundy
Picture
'By the mid 1880s, George had land on the headwaters of Married Mans Creek at Upper Meroo, next door to his brother in law Patrick Fox, and was gradually acquiring more as he took advantage of the land reforms allowing smallholders to select land. As of 1885, George also had 60 acres of land at Campbells Creek on which he reported running three horses, sixteen cattle and five pigs. George was successful in purchasing 140 acres (56 hectares) at Married Mans Creek on the 31st of October 1887 and made additional purchases along the ridges dividing the Meroo and Campbells Creek catchments totalling 150 acres up to 1889. In 1892, he also obtained a further 240 acres to the east at the headwaters of Spicers Creek, adjoining Patrick Fox’s selections.'
